The neighborhood of Westburg is located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lynchburg was incorporated as a town in 1805 and then as a city in 1852. The area is dense with historical events and buildings. The Westburg neighborhood is located between the Lynchburg Expressway, State Route 1425, Forest Road, and Lakeside Drive. Westburg is mainly residential, featuring single-family homes and town houses. However, there are several businesses in the area as well. They include the Blackwater Bike Shop, CVS Pharmacy, car dealerships, and Heritage Green Assisted Living.
North of the neighborhood is Pikes View Park. The park offers biking, walking, and hiking trails. There are ball fields, playgrounds, and a volleyball court. Tennis and basketball courts are also found at Peaks View Park. The park offers a large shelter that can hold up to 80 people. It also holds a grill, picnic tables, and trash cans. The small shelter can hold up to 40 people and has the same amenities that the large one offers. Sandusky Park is nearby and offers a paved trail that follows the Blackwater Creek. There is also 17 acres of parkland to explore.
Shopping Centers are numerous in the area. There is the Timberlake Plaza Shopping Center, Kohl’s, Target, PetSmart, Best Buy, Sam’s Club, and Barnes and Noble. The Seven Hills Shopping Center offers residents easy access to a Walmart SuperCenter. Also in the vicinity are numerous restaurants, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Ruby Tuesday’s, Texas Roadhouse, Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Golden Corral, and Olive Garden.
Schools in the area include Tomahawk Elementary, Sheffield Elementary, Sandusky Elementary School, Heritage Elementary School, Brookville Middle School, Brookville High School, and Heritage High School. Higher education choices in the area include Central Virginia Community College, Liberty University, Lynchburg College, and Virginia University of Lynchburg.
