Lynchburg was once one of the wealthiest cities per capita in the nation as a result of its tobacco trade. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 33-acre area is in the heart of Lynchburg. Free-standing brick homes including French Second Empire architectural style, early 19 century, Edwardian homes of the early 20th century, and early federal town houses have been preserved.
