The neighborhood referred to as Rmwc has a zip code of 24503. The area is part of the city of Lynchburg, Virginia and is in Lynchburg County. The Rmwc neighborhood is just across from Randolph College. Randolph College began as Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 1891.
Located at 2500 Rivermont Avenue, Randolph College and the Rmwc neighborhood are at the foothills of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. The southern border of Rmwc is Rivermont Avenue. The western boundary of the Rmwc neighborhood is formed by North Princeton Circle. The river creates the northern boundary. Portions of Quinlan Street and Norfolk Avenue form the eastern border.
The Rmwc area has eight tennis courts and a baseball field with sidewalks for pedestrians and plenty of off-street parking. An athletic field can also be found on the eastern boundary, and much of the land is wooded area. Riverside Park is just on the outside of the neighborhood.
Randolph-Macon Woman’s College changed its name to Randolph College in 2007 and began to admit men for the class of 2011. The 100-acre campus offers 50 major and minor programs, as well as graduate course work. Pearl S. Buck was a graduate of the class of 1914.
The Blue Ridge Mountains offer hiking and camping for residents in the area. The Blackwater Creek Natural Area is just to the south with 330 acres of parkland and eight miles of biking and hiking trails. Public transportation with bus stops can be accessed all along Rivermont Ave. Rivermont Avenue leads right into the main portion of the city of Lynchburg itself. Route 501 is west of the area and intersects with Route 163 to the south, making commuting easy for business needs.
