Downtown Lynchburg has found a very distinctive way to honor their heroes. Monument Terrace is a unique architectural design that uses stairs to commemorate all the Lynchburg residents who fought and died in the Civil War, Spanish American War, World Wars I and II, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Each step has been engraved with a Veteran’s name. The stairs start at Church Street and end at the top on Court Street.
