The western portion of Lakeland hosts a large concentration of schools, churches, medical facilities, banks and commercial establishments. Some of the nearest ones to Lakeland include the Crosspoint Wesleyan, Timberlake Mammography Center, Timberlake Animal Hospital, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Central Virginia Federal Credit Union, DC’s Express Mart and Harley-Davidson of Lynchburg.

Lakeland is only a few minutes away from the Lynchburg Regional airport, also locally known as the Preston Glenn Field.
