Irvington Park is located in the northwestern suburbs of Lynchburg, just north of the Beacon Hill neighborhood. Despite being in a secluded area of Lynchburg, residents can easily get from their homes to other parts of the city. It is located less than one mile from Highway 501, a major freeway which connects the western suburbs of Lynchburg to the rest of the area.

One of the main recreational locations in Irvington Park is Peaks View Park, which is just over a half-mile south of the neighborhood. The 250-acre park is the second-largest in the city and has plenty of things to do for families. Active residents can enjoy playing sports such as softball, volleyball or soccer, along with taking advantage of the disc golf course at the park. Several hiking trails are available to take a relaxing stroll or see native wildlife and flora, along with a mountain biking trail. Parents with younger children can partake in the large playground or enjoy a quiet picnic or barbecue at one of the many shelters.
