Hollywood, California is many miles –and worlds – away from Hollywood in Lynchburg, Virginia. Hollywood Lynchburg is not as populated or as famous as its counterpart in Southern California. Still, there are some characteristics this Hollywood shares with Tinsel Town.
Near it is the location of a Frito-Lay’s manufacturing plant that specializes in Light and “Better for You” snacks. In other words, it produces low calorie and healthy snacks which sell well in the other Hollywood where looks are everything.
This Lynchburg community is more than just a name and the location of a manufacturing plant. It is a wooded community located in a town with five colleges: Randolph College, Liberty University, Virginia University of Lynchburg, Lynchburg College, and Central Virginia Community College.
Many of Hollywood’s stores and shopping centers are located along its Northern border, Old Forest Road. This particular street stretches southwest, merges temporarily with Lynchburg Expressway (Highway 291), and then connects with Lakeside Drive (Highway 221). Lakeside Drive is the other commercial corridor of this community. It forms the southern border. Forest Brook Road makes up the Eastern border. This street cuts through heavily forested area and connects Lakeside with Old Forest Road.
Trains travel through the center of this community. The tracks separate the residential community from the forested areas as well as Forest Hill Cemetery. Also, it’s here where another major manufacturer, Finly Corporation (off of Forest Brook Road) is located. Finly is major manufacturer of ready-mixed concrete, septic tanks, water conditioners and softening accessories, ultrafiltration equipment, and collection tanks.
This Hollywood has hills, too. The hills of Peaks View Park — just north of the community — offer a scenic view of country side and an ideal bike route on a narrow road going through a forest of birch, oak, poplar, and hickory trees.
