Cedar Ridge is a residential neighborhood in the city of Lynchburg, Virginia. The area is known for its hilly terrain, which prompted the description “City of Seven Hills.”
This part of Lynchburg is an ideal residential region, as well as a recreation destination, because of its splendid mountain views and access to many parks and private ponds. The surrounding area of Cedar Ridge is filled with many other planned communities such as Heritage Hills, Settlement Estates, Seven Oaks, and Wyndhurst.
Cedar Ridge’s main thoroughfares include Timberlake Road, Waterlick Road, Enterprise Drive, and Old Graves Mill Road. These highways lead to a number of shopping establishments in the area, like the Timbrook Square Shopping Center, Waterlick Plaza Shopping Center, River Ridge Mall Shopping Center, and Seven Hills Shopping Center.
The area in between Enterprise Drive and Timberlake Road features a large concentration of restaurants, schools, churches, and specialty shops.
Most students residing in Cedar Ridge attend the Heritage Elementary School, Linkhorne Middle School, and Heritage High School. College students are nearest the National College on the east side of the neighborhood via Timberlake Road.
Cedar Ridge lies only a few miles southeast of the Lynchburg Regional Airport, also known as the Preston Glenn Field. This public airport provides residents a convenient travel time of about 15 minutes from the neighborhood to the airport.
Residents have easy access to the Poplar Forest Golf Course and Poplar Forest Lake just west of the neighborhood. The area also allows residents to conveniently commute going to the Lynchburg Amtrak when going northwest from their homes. On the way to the Amtrak station, the route passes by Lynchburg College, Blackwater Park, Blackwater Creek, Lynchburg General Hospital, Miller Park, and the Lynchburg Stadium.
