There is a beautiful picnic area which provides trees, green areas, and wonderful views of historic Hollins Mills Dam with the original old stonework and Blackwater Creek. The park provides access to the Blackwater Creek Bikeway and the Point of Honor bike Trail, which are both part of the James River Heritage Trail System.
Boonsboro residents can drive into Lynchburg to take their children to Amazement Square, Lynchburg’s hands-on museum for children. The first of its kind in Central Virginia, it has four floors of interactive exhibits and activities. Visitors of all ages can touch, climb, and slide on a variety of theme areas, learning science, arts, and global and regional topics.
