Blue Ridge Farms is a community located a few minutes west of downtown Lynchburg, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. This quiet neighborhood consists of single-family homes set against a background to mature trees and wide, grassy sidewalks on gently rolling terrain. Blue Ridge Farms is very close to Peaks View Park, which affords locals many opportunities to lead a healthy lifestyle, with exercise on tennis courts and paved walking trails through the green meadows and along the Ivy Creek.
Blue Ridge Farms is served by U.S Route 501, State Route 620 and other important roads like Old Forest Road. Local public transportation by bus is provided by the Greater Lynchburg Transit Company. Passengers can pay cash or buy a pass. Kemper Street Station, located at 825 Kemper Street, Lynchburg, provides intercity rail and bus services, with a Greyhound Lines terminal on the main floor and Amtrak’s terminal on the track level floor.
Blue Ridge Farms’ children and teenagers may choose to attend any of Lynchburg City Public Schools, overseen by the Lynchburg City School Board, or any of the private and mostly religious private schools. Higher education is provided by the Central Virginia Community College and a number of private colleges and universities.
Lynchburg offers a number of attractions and activities for all ages: Civil War trails, historic homes, a cemetery created in 1806, the Lynchburg Museum, the Academy of Fine Arts, and the Legacy Museum of African-American History, just to name a few.
The Lynchburg area encompasses such important industries as nuclear technology, pharmaceuticals and material handling, as well as many small businesses. The multinational conglomerate Areva, a mining and energy company, is one of the area’s largest employers.
