North Main Street is Kabrich Crescent’s main highway. The neighborhood’s other busy thoroughfares from the residential area to various commercial destinations include Hunt Club Road, Kabrich Street, Stonegate Drive, Broce Drive, Progress Street, Watson Avenue, Winston Street, and Montgomery Street.
Due to the proximity of the neighborhood to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, more popularly referred to as Virginia Tech, many residents work in education, training, and library services. A high percentage of residents work in a number of sales and office occupations.
Because of Blacksburg’s topography, its elevation is linked to a mountain temperate or humid continental climate. Such a climate provides summers that are generally warm and humid but usually cooler than those in the lowlands. Winters are anywhere from cool to cold but with occasional warm periods.
Just outside the area around North Main Street, locals have access to diverse commercial establishments. They can also check out a long stretch of merchants at the Patrick Henry Shopping Center and other retailers such as Food Lion, Roma Pizza, and 7-Eleven, south of the neighborhood. The Montgomery Regional Hospital along North Main Street is also located south of Kabrich Crescent.
The southern border of the neighborhood provides easy access to Virginia Tech, while the eastern area features some parks, including the Blacksburg Park. Its northern border is also home to many places of worship such as the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Blacksburg Christian Church, Northside Presbyterian Church, and Ekklesia Blacksburg Baptist Church.
