The Woods of Shavano is a moderately-sized neighborhood in the affluent city of Shavano Park. The incorporated city sits on the far northwest side of San Antonio, near the wealthy Dominion (a neighborhood with residents such as David Robinson and George Strait). It is rife with trees, suburban social life and nearby attractions.

As opposed to the many other neighborhoods of Shavano Park, The Woods of Shavano is more community oriented, and attracts many more middle-class patrons. The sidewalks are walkable, and generally contain joggers and exercise enthusiasts of all sorts. The Woods of Shavano contains a community tennis court, pool and even its own recreational park. A few, scenic hiking trails in and around the neighborhood are also present.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Palladium IMAX and The Shops at La Cantera are some of the well-known attractions around The Woods of Shavano. Six Flags Theme Park attracts people from all over the city, but is especially close to the area, outside of Loop 1604. The Palladium and La Cantera are more luxurious and typically sell expensive products at their shops and theaters.

The neighborhood has numerous social events such as swim meets and gatherings at the nearby church St. Francis of Assisi. Political signs, neighborhood notifications and special postings usually adorn the entrance to the community.

The nearby Fitness 19 is the economical gym membership choice for many Woods of Shavano residents, while others prefer the luxury of Spectrum at Rogers Ranch. Lifetime Fitness at the Rim also attracts those who prefer a large, spacious gym. Children from the Woods of Shavano usually attend Rawlingson Middle School or Tom C Clark High School.
