The Crossing at Quail Creek Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Crossing at Quail Creek is a popular gated community of single-family homes that is located in zip code 78250, in a convenient part of San Antonio. It lies just west of Bandera Road and off of Mainland Drive. Bandera Road goes right into Interstate 410, but it is also convenient to Loop 1604 around the central part of the city.
Homes in this popular community are small, single-story contemporary structures that vary only slightly in size, with a general range of between 1,300 and 1,500 square feet. Most were built in 1998. Despite the fact that the houses are just over a decade old, the community is filled with mature trees, lush greenery, and nicely landscaped properties.
This location is ideally situated for residents who would need to commute to any of the medical centers in San Antonio, including the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Methodist Specialty Hospital and USAA. In addition, Interstate 410 provides commuters with fast access to Lackland Air Force Base, or to Fort Sam Houston, two of the three military installations in San Antonio.
Lackland Air Force Base is the place where many Air Force recruits come for basic training. It is also home to the Defense Language Institute, the English Language Center and the Inner-American Air Forces Academy for International Students.
Fort Sam Houston was established as an Army installation in 1845, and it has been at its present location since 1876. It is now known as the home of Army medicine. It is probably best known as the home to Brooke Army Medical Center, a 450-bed major level-one trauma center, and home to a surgical burn unit that is arguably one of the best burn centers in the entire United States. The Center for the Intrepid, which opened in January of 2007, houses the military performance, occupational, and physical therapy labs. It also has a prosthetic facility and a behavioral care center.
