Several area parks provide opportunities for outdoor recreation near Solana Ridge, including Millers Pond Park and Pearsall Park. The latter is by far the largest park in the area and is currently undergoing significant renovation. The plans for this park include multiple athletic fields, nature trails, ponds, scenic overlooks, a BMX course, Frisbee golf course, and dog park.

College students living in Solana Ridge may attend Texas A&M University of San Antonio and Palo Alto Community College, both situated within a short drive to the east.

For more to see and do, the nearby downtown area hosts many shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife options. It is also the host of several major medical centers, the Alamodome sports and entertainment complex, Hemisfair Park, and the University of Texas at San Antonio campus.
