Schnabel Park bounds the neighborhood on the north, and the community extends to include some of the parkland on the east. The bordering parkland is certainly one of the most significant features of the French Creek neighborhood. O.P. Schnabel Park offers a variety of amenities for residents and the rest of the general public, including hiking and biking trails, a children’s playscape, and basketball court. The park is also home of the Braundera Family YMCA building, and the city leases several ball fields from the facility. Three picnic pavilions are on site as well, providing the perfect setting for a family get-together or neighborhood outing.

Another mid-sized park can be found just outside of neighborhood bounds to the southwest, at 7625 Mystic Park. This community park offers a nine-hole disc golf course, basketball court, gazebo, playground, and two pavilions.

Shopping local is easy for French Creek residents, who are within two miles southeast of Bandera Pointe. This popular shopping area that abuts the convergence of Bandera Road and the Charles W. Anderson Loop offers several big-name retailers. These include H-E-B, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, Kohl’s, and T.J. Maxx. A fitness center is also located here, as well as several dining options. Among the latter are IHOP, Starbucks, Panda Express and Pei Wei.

Within a few miles to the southeast is a private golf club, the Oak Hills Country Club. French Creek residents enjoy easy access to a variety of health care options, with more than a half-dozen health care facilities huddled together near the country club.
