Located about 15 miles southeast of downtown Dallas, Seagoville is a suburban city with a long and interesting history. It was founded in 1876 by T.K. Seago, who opened the settlement’s first store and served as postmaster. Seago was a sleepy little town until 1880, when the T & NO Railroad came through. The name was changed to Seagoville in 1910 to avoid confusing Seago with Sego, another Texas city.
If you choose a Seagoville apartment to rent, you’ll be living in a “green” community. Seagoville strives to be an environmentally-conscious city and has several programs that residents can participate in, including curbside recycling, a Shop Environmentally program, and a Keep Seagoville Beautiful campaign.
Although the nightlife, shops, restaurants, sites, theaters, and museums of Dallas are a short drive away, Seagoville residents don’t have to leave to find great shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities. Seagoville features several annual events, including Seagofest, a Cinco De Mayo Festival, and an annual golf tournament.
