This community is situated immediately north of the Southwest Texas State University campus, the pride and joy of the city. The central portion of this neighborhood follows East Mimosa Circle, but its northern boundary extends to include all of Lamar Avenue, Norcrest Drive, and Inwood Drive. On the south, it extends roughly to West Laurel Lane, Alta Vista Drive, Ed J.L. Green Drive, and Laurel Ridge. Area communities include Forest Hills and Ridgeway – Hillcrest.

Spring Lake, the community’s namesake, can be found immediately south of the community, jutting into the Texas State University Golf Course. Spring Lake Hills is situated in the 78666 zip code area, within Hays County. This residential community is made up of several dozen single family homes that sit on well-shaded lots.

Texas State University, which enrolls over 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students, is the most significant attraction in the area. The campus is also host to the Bobcat football stadium and soccer complex.

A long chain of parkland can be found immediately south of the campus, within minutes of Spring Lake Hills. This chain of parkland includes Rio Vista Park and John J. Stokes San Marcos River City Park. The list of amenities found here include jogging/biking trails, playing fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, and plenty of open green space for picnics and family recreation.

The Spring Lake Hills is also just a few miles west of the San Marcos Municipal Airport and several miles north of the Central Texas Medical Center.
