Millview West sits in zip code 78666. It is located immediately to the southeast of the Texas State University San Marcos Campus. The boundaries of this neighborhood are Robbie Lane to the west and north, Bobcat Stadium to the north, Thorpe Lane to the south, and Aquarena Springs Drive to the east.

This interesting and eclectic neighborhood is made up of a mix of residential properties. At the far southwestern part of the neighborhood, there is a small area with apartments. These apartments surround a central pool, and there are bushes around the area to give residents more privacy. Next to that, there are duplexes that are neatly placed in a pattern. These duplexes are on streets that wind in a diagonal that runs parallel to the structures. The area is simply landscaped with grass, bushes and trees. The rest of the neighborhood is made up of different apartment communities.

Aquarena Center is a facility for preservation and education that is now part of Texas State University-San Marcos River Center. The center has an interesting history that began in 1928 when Arthur B. Rogers built the Aquarena Inn. It was known then, as the Spring Lake Hotel.

In 1946, Mr. Rogers’ son, Paul, initiated the beginning of what would become Aquarena Springs when he launched the first glass-bottom boat. It was an oversized row boat that had a canvas top and a glass panel on the bottom. This was the beginning of what would become a theme park.

It remained in the Rogers family until 1994, at which time, the university purchased Aquarena. To preserve some of the original history, the center is working with the Rogers family to continue the history and tradition of the glass-bottom boats. Visitors to the center can take tours on the historic glass-bottom boats.
