The bustling cities of Dallas and Fort Worth share a common distance to the suburban community of Midlothian, Texas. Located 26 miles southwest of Dallas and 27 miles southeast of Fort Worth, Midlothian offers easy access to both downtown metro areas.

Although Midlothian contains cattle-raising and cotton-farming farmlands, this Ellis County city should not be mistaken as country living. With an expanding school district and several major employers, this growing city of over 8,000 residents is a major suburban community.

Midlothian is home to three of the largest cement factories in the US, including Texas Industries (TXI). Gerdau Ameristeel is a steel factory located near TXI. Railport is a large industrial park with several distribution facilities.

There are several festivals in Midlothian, including a Spring Fling Arts & Crafts Festival, a Fall Festival, and the Summer Balloon Classic, a competition with 40 hot-air balloons.

Midlothian’s parks are situated on 117 acres of land throughout the city. Kimmel Park features a gazebo, playground, and picnic areas. Heritage Park is situated around Larkin Newton Log Cabin, built in 1848.

The official motto of Midlothian is “DFW’s Southern Star.” Just far enough from the busy lifestyle of the major cities, Midlothian continues to grow.
