Windsor Place is a neighborhood in Midland, Texas. It is located a little over two miles northwest of downtown. Midland is located in West Texas and is the home of former Presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush and former First Ladies Barbara and Laura Bush.
Its boundaries are Winfield Road, North H Street, North I Street and W. Scharbauer Drive. The grid layout makes it easy to find one’s way around the neighborhood. Windsor Place consists mainly of single-family homes with mature trees and wide, green sidewalks. However, there are apartment complexes, as well.
Windsor Place belongs to the Midland Independent School District. Post-secondary education opportunities are available at Midland College, a level two, comprehensive community college. The College’s Petroleum Professional Development Center provides continuing education for the petroleum industry. The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, located in nearby Odessa, offers four year degree and graduate programs.
The city of Midland provides recreational facilities and programs through its several parks, swimming pools, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, as well as designated running and biking trails. The Scharbauer Sports Complex hosts the baseball, football, and local soccer teams.
Some attractions include the George W. Bush Childhood Home, the American Airpower Heritage Museum, the McCormick Gallery (located at Midland College), the Museum of the Southwest, and the Planetarium, just to name a few. The Petroleum Museum pays homage to those whose efforts helped make Midland and the Permian Basin one of the world’s leading oil and gas provinces.
