The Ranchland neighborhood is one of the closest to the Midkiff Industrial Center in southwestern Midland. Sitting along West Wall Street, which is also the Interstate 20 Business Route, Ranchland is on the edge of Midland’s residential area. South of West Wall Street it is all business and industrial land. South of Ranchland along West Wall Street is auto row with Toyota of Midland, All American Chevrolet of Midland, and Rogers Ford all side by side. A number of hotels and motels are in the area including name brands such as Best Western, La Quinta and Days Inn.
Ranchland is mostly single family homes built in the mid 20th century with a few newer small and large apartment buildings. Nearby schools include Lamar Elementary on Kessler Aveneu and the West Early Childhood Center on West Missouri Avenue. The Premier High School of Midland is a mile north on West Illinois Avenue. Second Baptist Church on West Wall Street is one block north, and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church is two blocks west on Travis Avenue.
Nearby parks include Ulmer Park two blocks east on West Kentucky Avenue and Garret Brown Park three blocks west on Holly Drive. Less than a mile to the northeast is Dennis the Menace Park on South Garfield Street. Considered one of Midland’s favorite parks its three acres offers slides, playhouses, and wading pools, all decorated in bright primary colors.
The closest restaurants are between Ranchland and the Midkiff Industrial Center. Jim Burrito is on south Midkiff Road and only a block away. Dairy Queen, another block south is on West Wall Street.
