Sitting almost at the edge of Midland’s northern border, Northview offers a quiet, suburban, sophisticated lifestyle that is close to the amenities of city life. This is one of the newer parts of Midland. Building did not start here until the 1970s, and the trend was for high-rise apartments, some in upscale complexes, followed by smaller apartment buildings.
One school, Santa Rita Elementary is in Northview. Next to the school is Santa Rita Park. One block north of Mockingbird Lane, just outside the neighborhood is the private Midland Classical Academy. Nearby churches include the Colonial Bible Church on Whitman Drive and Christ Church Midland on North Midkiff Road. The E-Z Rider public bus system services Northview and the surrounding areas.
Northview is located north of the Texas 250 Loop Frontage Road and east of North Midkiff Road. At the intersection of these two roads is the Midland Park Mall, which has J.C. Penney’s as its anchor store, and an Albertson’s market. Along the Texas 250 Loop are even more shops, including Bed, Bath and Beyond, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, and Best Buy. Restaurants on this same strip include IHop, the Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, and Jason’s Deli. All of these locations are within a mile radius of Northview.
The Texas 250 Loop also leads to Midland College and the Midland International Airpark. Just east of the airpark is a business park, home to a branch of the American Legion, a U.S. Post Office, the Midland Gymnastics Center, and Hogan Park, which offers a five-acre off-leash dog park complete with agility course. Christensen Stadium, a ballpark used by Midland High School and local groups, is on the northwestern end of the Park. The closest golf course is Midland Country Club, east via the Texas 250 Loop and Big Spring Street.
