North Williams, located north of the Texas 250 Loop Frontage Road, is a comparatively new area in Midland, Texas. Rather than the homes dating back to the 1930s and 1940s that you see through much of the city, the oldest structures here date back to the early 1970s. Most homes are condos or apartments in high-rise buildings. Some of the complexes, particularly those built after 1995, are quite sophisticated architecturally. There are also a few single-family homes, duplexes, and row houses.
The area is largely residential. North Williams is a half block away from Santa Rita Elementary School on Whitman Drive. Santa Rita Park is next to the school. Churches in the area include Northwestern Baptist Church on Mockingbird Land and Christ Church on North Midkiff Road. Restaurants, shops, and services are located along this road as well. These include Greenbelt Veterinary Hospital, Toys R Us, Albertsons Supermarket, Quiznos, Burger King, and McDonald’s. Head south to the Texas 250 Loop, and you will find Midland Park Mall and even more dining and shopping opportunities.
The Loop also takes you to Midland International Airport, the adjacent business park, a Barnes and Noble Bookstore, and restaurants and other shops. Major chains like Office Depot and Bed Bath & Beyond have outlets along this corridor. Head farther east, and the Loop takes you to the five-acre, off-leash Hogan’s Run Dog Park, which has a dog agility course. Take a left off the Loop from here onto Big Spring Street, and you will find the Midland Country Club and its golf course, about two miles north.
