Mayfield Place is on the northern edge of Midland. It offers a quiet, laid-back lifestyle in a rural setting. Residents who take North Midkiff Road to the south will find the shops, restaurants, and services of Midland. In the opposite direction, the road leads to open farmland and little else. Most of these Texas homes are single-family residents built in 1970 or later. Some of the developments built after 1995 are high-rise apartment complexes.
The closest school is the private Midland Classical Academy on Whitman Drive. South of the Mayfield Place neighborhood, also on Whitman Drive, is Santa Rita Elementary, which has a small park next door. The Paragon Learning Center, a preschool, is south of Mayfield Place on Caldera Boulevard. Nearby churches include the Colonial Bible Church on Whitman Drive, Christ Church Midland on North Midkiff Road, and Northwestern Baptist Church on Mockingbird Lane.
The E-Z Rider bus system provides service to Mayfield Place, with a more frequent schedule along North Midkiff Road and Mockingbird Lane. This is primarily a residential area. Shops and restaurants are along North Midkiff Road, heading south, or along the Texas 250 Loop Frontage Road. At the intersection of these two streets is Midland Mall, home to JCPenney and an assortment of shops and restaurants. A row of fast food restaurants, including Raco Bell, KFC, and McDonalds, lines North Midkiff Road before the mall.
Going east on the Texas 250 Loop leads to the Midland International Airpark and the business park that is home to the U.S. Post Office, the Midland Gymnastic Center, and the Trinity Haven Healthcare Center. South of the Texas Loop are Hogan Park and its five-acre dog run. Mayfield Place residents can enjoy a round or two of golf at the Ranchland Hills Country Club, south of the park.
