This is the neighborhood for those who want to be in the heart of the action. The Glen Arden Annex is framed by West Wadley Avenue on the north and North Garfield Street on the west. Walk one block north to Midlands College. One block east leads to the Midland Community Theatre, offering a chance for a night out taking in a play or musical. Next to the theater are Tumbleweed Park and its companion, Windlands Park.
Across the street from both parks are the Midland International Airpark and business development. The US Post Office, Kelly Services, Wilson Supply and Apache Corporation are just a few of the firms in the business park. Two more blocks east are the Midland Gymnastic Center, the Sibley Nature Center and Hogan Park. The latter has a five-acre dog park and agility course open to the public. Golfers can tee off at the Ranchland Hills Golf Course, just south of Hogan Park.
Glen Arden Annex is a mixture of single-family homes, duplexes, and apartments. Most single-family homes were built prior to 1970. Later developments have increased the number of apartments available, mostly in low-rise buildings or complexes. Schools in the area include the private Hillander School on West Wadley Avenue, Fannin Elementary on Mogford Street, and Heritage Preschool on Neely Avenue.
Getting to restaurants and shops is not an issue. The E-Z Rider transit service runs frequently along North Garfield Street and West Wadley Avenue. Eateries within a block of Glen Arden Annex include Burger King, the Venezia, the Garlic Press, and Subway. The Natural Foods Market is two blocks away on West Wadley Avenue.
