While venturing next to the corner of South Crestview Road and Travis Avenue, one is sure to come across an area called “Crestview.” The single zip code that encompasses the entire Crestview neighborhood is 79701. Neighboring communities include Thorne, Morelan, Parklea, and Crestview Heights.
In the center of the neighborhood is Lamar Elementary School, where most neighborhood kids go if they don’t attend one of the many local private schools. Churches are no strangers to Crestview – the Second Baptist Church and Seventh-Day Adventist Church are both nearby, within a block of each other. The neighborhood lacks sidewalks at times, but other than that it is quite walkable.
Tourist attractions around Crestview include the Confederate Air Force Base and the George W. Bush Childhood Home, which are both historical landmarks. The Yucca and Midland Community Theatres are two of the most visited local theatrical venues. Together, they put on the majority of plays around Crestview and Midland.
Additional attractions in the area include the Midland Memorial Hospital, one of just a few major medical centers in the city and a significant area employer. Residents of Crestview also enjoy proximity to several area parks, including Garrett Brown Park and Ulmer Park, the latter of which offers at least nine baseball/softball diamonds.
For those looking for highly energized, communal neighbors, Crestview is home to more organizations than can be counted. Despite being situated only 2.5 miles west of the downtown area, this community is relatively suburban in comparison to other parts of Midland.
