Crestview Heights is almost on the outskirts of west Midland, less than a mile from State Spur 546 to the north and a little more than that from Holiday Hill Road to the west. Beyond Holiday Hill Road, other than the Midland Rockhounds Professional Baseball Stadium, there are farms and acres of undeveloped land. North of the ballpark the Nueva Vista Golf Club is available for play.
Housing is a mixture of single family homes, high and low rise apartments and some duplexes. The area is walkable, family friendly and is near one of the largest open green spaces in a residential area in Midland, Ulmer Park, south of West Wall Street. To the west is crescent shaped Garrett Brown Park. Both are within three blocks of the center of Crestview Heights. Five blocks east on West Indiana Avenue is Dennis the Menace Park, named after that trouble-making cartoon character. Considered one of the best parks in Midland, it offers wading pools, slides, fountains, playhouses, and everything is painted in bright, cartoon colors.
Schools include the West Early Childhood Center for pre-school and kindergarten ages on West Missouri Avenue, and Lamar Elementary on Kessler Avenue. Two churches are near the center of Crestview, the Seventh Day Adventist and the Second Baptist Church both on Travis Avenue.
Businesses and restaurants line South Midkoff Road, West Wall Street, and West Illinois Avenue in the north. There are a couple of exceptions, a neighborhood café called Kathy’s Corner on Mariana Avenue and the Martini Glass & Grill on West Circle Drive. The Village Shopping Center is a half mile to the north east on West Illinois Avenue. Across the street is Midland Memorial Hospital.
