The community is bordered on the north by North Loop West Freeway and on the south by Interstate 10. The boundary on the west is West TC Jester Boulevard, and on the east the boundary is Interstate 45.

The Greater Heights neighborhood is one of the earliest planned communities in Texas. About 70% of the population is made up of young people. Love Park and Community Center has an outdoor basketball court, a walking and bicycle trail, playground, a lighted sports field, and a swimming pool. Love Community Center has an indoor gymnasium, meeting rooms, and a weight room.

The Heights is also home to a World War II Museum and memorial, which commemorates and honors the 224 servicemen and the 2,549 veterans from the Houston Heights area who served their country during World War II.
