Framed by the commercially vibrant Montwood Drive to the north and busy North Yarbrough Drive on the western edge, Vista Del Sol is a quiet bit of suburbia within walking distance of supermarkets, restaurants, and retail outlets. A large Albertson’s market is at the corner of these two streets, part of a mini mall that includes a US Post Office, the seven screen Montwood Movie Theater, and the Great American Land & Cattle Restaurant. These two roadways are also on the El Paso Transit System routes.
The neighborhood itself is a collection of single family homes, townhomes, and apartments that began development during the 1970s. On the southern edge along Trawood Drive is nearby Vista Del Sol Park with its shaded picnic areas, basketball court, and baseball diamond. Dogs are welcome on-leash. To exercise your four footed family members off-leash, head about a mile north to Eastwood Dog Park. A fenced exercise area, obstacle course, and doggie water fountains are available.
Public schools in the area include Vista Hills Elementary on La Subida Drive, to the south and Eastwood Middle School on Chaswood Street to the north. JM Hanks High School on North Lee Travino Drive is about a half a mile east. Burnham Wood Charter School on Brian Mooney Avenue and the KinderCare Learning Center on East Montwood Drive are on the northern end of Vista Del Sol West.
The closest churches are Eastwood Christian Church, Montwood Church of Nazarene, and Faith Baptist Church, all on Montwood Drive. About a half mile to the east is the Best Friends Grooming Shop & Pet Boutique on North Lee Trevino Boulevard. This latter street is host to another string of restaurants include fast food giants Arby’s and McDonald’s as well as the locally owned Cafeteria Saul.
