Tobin Mount neighborhood lies on the northeast side of El Paso. This community is ideal for military families, as it is situated between the Castner Range-Fort Bliss Military Reservation and the Biggs Army Airfield. The community is also about a 20-minute drive from both the central downtown area and the city’s international airport. This community is not reserved for military personnel by any means; its proximity to major highways and the area’s amenities make it a great neighborhood for nearly anyone.
Surrounding Tobin Mount is Hondo Pass Avenue on the south, US Highway 54 on the west, Alps and Salisbury Drives on the east, and Wren Avenue and Joe Herrera Drive on the north. Other communities in the area include Castner Heights to the west and Tobin Park to the east.
This community predominately is made up of well-maintained, single-family homes that sit on small lots, although a few commercial offerings also exist along the neighborhood’s borders. The nearby highways host restaurants and retailers, and the Northpark Shopping Center is located just north of the community. The Transmountain Campus of El Paso’s community college and Western Technical College are also in the area.
Many parks and playgrounds exist within a few minutes of Tobin Mount, including Sue Young Park, Recreation Ranch Park, Student Memorial Park, and Nations Tobin Park. Collectively, these small parks offer playing fields, playgrounds, walking paths, picnic areas, and open green space for other activities. Tom Mays Park and Mountains State Park, which span many acres on the other side of the military reservation, are also accessible within a few miles of home.
