Lakehurst, El Paso is an urban neighborhood, set not far west of the mountainous terrain that makes up Frankin Mountain State Park and part of the Fort Bliss Reservation. Lakehurst is comprised of mostly single-family homes, with apartments making up about a third of available living spaces. It is flanked by the neighborhoods of Falcon Hills to the east, Desierto Plaza to the north, and South Belvidere to the south. Interstate 10 is to its west.
Perhaps the closest park to the area is LBJ Park, named after former President Lyndon Johnson. It offers scenic views for residents to enjoy. Other parks close to the area are Thorn Park and White Spur Park, which are just over the Interstate from Lakehurst. Golfing at its finest can be played at courses such as Coronado Country Club to the East, as well as courses to the west including El Paso, Doniphan, or Ocotillo Country Clubs. Westside Community Park Center also gives residents entertainment opportunities.
Schooling options abound with numerous public schools in the area. Elementary schools for Lakehurst are Rosa Guerrero, Roberts, Da Vinci, and Polk. Middle Schools in the neighborhood include Dr. Hornedo, Da Vinci, and Brown, with high schools being Franklin or Coronado high schools. Two community colleges are local to the area, while public libraries around the neighborhood include Dorris Van Doren and Westside.
Without exteding more than three miles, Lakehurst residents have a variety of shopping options. Shopping Centers like Crossroads Village, Airway Junction, and Sunland Park Mall are within short distance. There is even an Antique Mall on Mesa Street for those classic finds. Cinemark West is close for catching a movie. Lakehurst offers residents so many options, making it an attractive place to settle down.
