Collin County, Texas

The fastest-growing county in the fast-growing state of Texas is Collin, a suburban North Texas county that saw a population explosion of 61 percent since 2000. On average, about 100 people a day are moving to Collin County. It could be the great weather, the impressive landscape, the location to Dallas and other major cities, the quality of education, the strong economy and low unemployment – no matter what draws newcomers Collin County continues to grow at a rapid pace.

Collin McKinney helped draft the Texas Declaration of Independence in 1836. Collin County was named for this famous Texan, as was its county seat, McKinney. McKinney came in at number five on Money Magazine’s list of the best places to live in the US in 2010. McKinney is a beautiful city with a charming downtown.

Lake Lavon is located just outside another popular Collin County city, Wylie. This large reservoir is a popular location for fishing and boating. Trinity Trails, popular with horseback riders and hikers, is located near the lake.

Other cities in Collin include Frisco, Allen, Plano, Lavon, Murphy, and Richardson. A small part of Dallas is also located in Collin County.
