The Austin’s Colony neighborhood is located close to the intersection of Highway 6 and Farm Road 158 – Boonville Road- in the city of Bryan, the seat of Brazos Country, in southeast central Texas. The construction of this subdivision begun in 1994 and is still ongoing; its different phases consist of single-family homes. There is a homeowners’ association administered by nine member board of directors.
Rudder High School and Mitchell Elementary School are located within the neighborhood and belong to the Bryan Independent School District. Austin’s Colony Park, located behind Harvey Mitchell Elementary School, offers residents various amenities for different activities, such as a one and a half-mile track, a picnic pavilion, an in-line skating rink, tennis courts, football and soccer fields, and even an archery range, among other choices.
The major roads that serve Austin’s Colony are U.S. Highway 190, State Highway 21 (San Jacinto), State Highway 6 (Earl Rudder Freeway) and Farm to Market Road 158 (William J. Bryan Parkway/Boonville Road.) Public transportation is provided by the Bryan Transport District buses, shuttles, and park and rides.
