Northeast Carrollton Neighborhood in Carrollton, TX

Northeast Carrollton Neighborhood

Northeast Carrollton, located in zip code 75007, is situated north of the North President George Bush Turnpike. It is in Denton County, while other parts of the city are located in Dallas County. The northern boundary of this section of the city is Farm to Market Road 544 or Parker Road. The eastern boundary is Midway Road and the western boundary is North Josey Lane.

There is a mix of single and two-story homes that vary in size, age and design style throughout the area. Although few of these residences are located on huge lots, most have quite a bit of outdoor space in the form of a backyard. Many streets are lined with old trees that tower above the homes.

This part of the city boasts a diverse collection of restaurants, fast-food places and businesses that offer sweets or other treats. There is everything from Asian restaurants to Mexican, pizza, barbecue and a host of different types of offerings.

This city is steeped in an interesting history that crosses both county lines. Most of the historic sites in this part of the city are churches. The Union Baptist Church Congregation which is now located at 4561 North Josey Lane is the oldest and first continuous Baptist congregation in Dallas County. It was established on May 11, 1846. The first meeting of that congregation was held in Farmer's Branch at a pioneer cabin near Keenan Cemetery. There is no record of where the congregation's first site was located. In the 1940s, the church moved to Meyers Street and College Avenue (now known as Belt Line Road) and it was called the College Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. The most recent move brought the church to its present location in 2000, at which time it became the Castle Hills Baptist Church.
