The Kilpatrick Community Center is adjacent to the park.

Shelby Park is an oasis in East Nashville. It has paved trails for walking, roller blading or biking. It also has numerous baseball fields, as well as lots of picnic areas with tables and grills. There is a pond where the water fowl are abundant, and the water is surrounded by lots of open space. Shelby Park is popular for its dog park where dogs are allowed to run off-leash. Dog are welcome in the rest of the park on their leash. Shelby Bottoms has a greenway that meanders alongside the Cumberland River and is part of a larger greenway system. Another attraction of Shelby Park is the 18-hole public golf course.

While there aren’t any major grocery stores within the neighborhood itself, there is a Kroger’s, a Piggly Wiggly, and a Walmart Super Center within an easy drive.
