Ravenwood is a very family-friendly community. There are many respected public and private schools within walking distance. Madison Elementary School is a third of a mile west of the neighborhood. Neelys Bend Middle School is a half-mile to its south. The Family Christian Academy is a mile to its northeast, and Dupont Elementary School is a mile to its east. The Metro Christian Academy is a mile to its west.

The Old Hickory Art Center, a renowned art gallery, is only a mile east of Ravenwood. The Looking West Art Gallery is three miles to its east. The Willie Nelson and Friends Museum is about three miles to its southwest, as is the Music Valley Wax Museum. The Hermitage, a local historical landmark, is the former home of President Andrew Jackson; it’s four miles southeast of the neighborhood.

Several of the wealthier Ravenwood residents are members of Old Hickory Country Club, which is only a mile and a half east of the community. It offers championship golf courses, a pro shop, a luxury clubhouse, an aquatic center, tennis courts, and on-site dining. The Ravenwood Country Club is also popular, and it’s just under five miles south of the neighborhood. The Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club is seven miles to its northeast.
