The community is bounded by Harding Place on the north, Nolensville Pike on the east, Old Hickory Boulevard/Bell Road on the south, and the Interstate 65 on the west. The Interstate 24 also runs to the east of the neighborhood. The community is primarily residential, although you will find shops, eateries, and service establishments in the area, as well as a school and church.

Of the many attractive aspects of Raintrec is Whitfield Park, which sits outside of the community to the west. This public community park features four baseball diamonds, a soccer/football field, playground and hiking areas. Leashed dogs are permitted at the park.

Also in the community is the Ellington Agricultural Center. The 207-acre piece of land was once a private estate but now serves as headquarters for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The Center features a variety of plant displays, such as the well-known Iris Garden, which is overseen by the Middle Tennessee Iris Society. The Center is also listed as an Official Arboretum by the Nashville Tree Foundation, and the annual Tennessee Agricultural Museum’s Rural Life Festival is held there.

For the safety and convenience of Raintrec residents, the Southern Hills Medical Center is located outside of the neighborhood to the northeast. This hospital has an emergency room and offers services in a variety of specialized areas such as sleep disorders, cardiology, cancer care and advanced wound care.
