The community of Plantation Drive in Hermitage, Tennessee may derive its name from one of its streets, as well as a nearby attraction. The street Plantation Drive runs along the western of this community, separating the tree-lined suburban streets of this neighborhood from Ravenwood Country Club and a forested meadow along the Cumberland River to the west.
The local attraction, on the other hand, is the Hermitage, a historic landmark museum that was once a plantation owned by President Andrew Jackson. The museum is a few miles northeast of the community.
The community of Plantation Drive is a residential community along Lebanon Pike/Highway 70. It shares many of the retail businesses, churches and schools with its neighbor to the north, Jacksonian Drive. Places such as Hermitage Hills Shopping Plaza, the post office, Lebanon Pike and Bonna Spring Drive bus stop, and Hermitage Church of Christ lie within or near the bordering streets.
To the west, the two communities share the only public school in the area, Hermitage Elementary School. There are two private schools; School Hermitage Hills Baptist Wee and Kinderland Learning Academy are near Highway 70.
The neighborhood is bordered by Plantation Drive to the west, Bonnameade Drive to the north, Jacksonian Drive to the northest, Highway 70 to the east, and Hickory Hill Lane to the south. There are natural barriers outside the community. The Cumberland River is to the west, while the northern part of the Stones Rivers runs near Hickory Hill Lane and Ravenwood Country Club.
The country club is a family-owned, semi-private facility with an 18-hole golf course, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, eight tennis courts, a bar and grill, pro shop, and clubhouse. Another attraction in the community is the bowling alley Hermitage Lane, which is located off of Highway 70. To the east is a proposed industrial area that is currently under construction.
