Osage North Fisk Apartments for Rent

(hide neighborhood information)

The Osage/North Fisk neighborhood in Nashville is located near downtown and in close reach to the I-40 and I-65 interstate systems. The neighborhood is bordered by Buchanan Street on the north; Dr. D. B. Todd Junior Boulevard on the east; I-40 on the south; and Ed Temple Boulevard and Schrader Lane on the west side.

Many homes in the neighborhood were built in the 1950s and 60s and are single-family, bungalow-style dwellings. Situated cozily on lots of large shade trees, the urban homesteads are landscaped with local vegetation in the form of honeysuckle, winterberry and huckleberry plants. The berries provide an ample food supply for area birds, such as blue jays, cardinals, chickadees, bluebirds, and sparrows.

The neighborhood is situated close to two major universities. Tennessee State University lies southeast of the community at 3500 John A. Merritt Boulevard while Vanderbilt University is located directly south at 211 Kirkland Hall. Centennial Park is also located in the same vicinity. The well-regarded city park can be found at West End and 25th Avenue North and comprises 132 acres. The park was originally farmland and was owned by Tennessee’s first teacher Anne Robertson Johnson Cockrill.

Close to the center of town, the neighborhood is also within easy access to a number of area malls. Residents like to take I-65 north to Goodlettsville and visit the River Gate Mall located at 1000 Rivergate Parkway. The Goodlettsville shopping center boasts 150 stores and eateries, and includes major anchors such as Dillard’s, Macy’s, J.C. Penney, and Incredible Dave’s. Locals also like to browse at popular retailers, such as the Dakota Watch Company, Oshkosh, American Eagle Outfitters, and RadioShack.

With its convenient location and friendly, urban charm, singles and families alike find the Osage/North Fisk neighborhood a good place to settle in the greater Nashville metropolitan area.
