The park was originally farmland and was owned by Tennessee’s first teacher Anne Robertson Johnson Cockrill.

Close to the center of town, the neighborhood is also within easy access to a number of area malls. Residents like to take I-65 north to Goodlettsville and visit the River Gate Mall located at 1000 Rivergate Parkway. The Goodlettsville shopping center boasts 150 stores and eateries, and includes major anchors such as Dillard’s, Macy’s, J.C. Penney, and Incredible Dave’s. Locals also like to browse at popular retailers, such as the Dakota Watch Company, Oshkosh, American Eagle Outfitters, and RadioShack.
