Within walking distance is one of Nashville’s top historic sites, the Buchanan Log House. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. Recreational opportunities near the Larkwood community are as easy to find as the historic sites. Anyone who enjoys disc golf will be delighted with the nearby course at Seven Oaks. There are a number of public golf courses around Nashville. The closest for Larkwood residents is at Two Rivers.
Residents who enjoy water activities have one of the largest recreational areas in middle Tennessee within a five-mile drive. Percy Priest Reservoir has multiple public-use sites and parks, with Elm Hill Marina the closest. Boat rentals are available there, and the site has a restaurant.
Just west of the Larkwood neighborhood are well-known educational and entertainment sites. Vanderbilt University and Peabody College are about five miles away, as are the Ryman Auditorium and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.
