Depending on the street, children living in the Highlands of Brentwood may attend a combination of May Werthan Shayne Elementary and William Henry Oliver Middle School, or Granberry Elementary and McMurray Middle School. High school students from the Highlands of Brentwood attend John Overton Comprehensive High School.

Residents of the Highlands of Brentwood enjoy a close proximity to the many shopping, dining, and banking opportunities located at the South Plaza, located at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard. The Plaza features a Kroger grocery store, a Wal-mart Supercenter, a Pizza Hut, a McDonald’s, and a Subway.

For religious services, the Highlands of Brentwood is centrally located near a variety of churches and places of worship. The historic Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church is located directly beside the Highlands of Brentwood, and has been a presence in this Nashville neighborhood since shortly after the Civil War. Other nearby churches include Woodland Hills Church of Christ, Southside Church of Christ, Bell Road Church of Christ, and the Korean Blessed Baptist Church. Religious services are also held at the nearby Baha’i Faith Center.

Between Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church and the South Plaza sit two apartment complexes.

Within the city, the Highlands of Brentwood are located south of the city of Nashville, halfway between Brentwood and Antioch off of Old Hickory Boulevard.
