Haywood Hills is a neighborhood of nice single-story and contemporary homes. The terrain varies from mostly level to quite hilly. It is bound by Apache Trail, Barella Drive, and Bart Drive, near I-24, in zip code 37013.
Its location near I-24 allows residents of this quiet neighborhood easy access to all attractions around greater Nashville, including the famed Grand Ole Opry, the Parthenon, and Nashville’s many institutions of higher education. The airport is only a few miles north of Haywood Hills.
One of the prettiest parks is a short drive west, Radnor Lake State Park. A nature sanctuary, activities here are somewhat controlled, but the hiking trails offer rare glimpses of the area’s diverse ecosystems and great scenery. Programs throughout the year give visitors a chance to participate in canoe floats, cave exploration, and night hikes. It’s a rare spot in an urban area. This park is less than a half-hour’s drive away.
For shopping, one of the finest is just northwest, The Mall at Green Hills. Many high-end retailers have stores here, including Jos. A. Bank, Ann Taylor, Benetton, and Tiffany & Co. But there are also names such as Dillard’s and Macy’s.
Nashville has many higher educational institutions. While Vanderbilt and Peabody are the best known, some smaller universities get national recognition. One of these is Belmont, with its specialty programs that prepare students for careers in the entertainment industry.
As might be expected with a half-dozen colleges clustered in the southwest area, there are a number of lively entertainment venues, especially along 12th Avenue South. Another entertainment district is the one around Ryman Auditorium and The Country Music Hall of Fame.
