Haynes Area Apartments for Rent

(hide neighborhood information)

Overlooking the historic Cumberland River and surrounded by forestland, the community of Haynes Area offers residents a chance to step back in time and soak up history. The powerful river, which flows through the city of Nashville, was once an important passageway for early American hunters and settlers.

Today the community of Haynes Area straddles the past and present. Interstates 24 and 65 run to the east of the neighborhood, and the Interstate 40 lies to the south. The neighborhood is surrounded by a variety of parks, some of which have history to share, such as Lock One Park, which is located on the banks of the Cumberland. The park is situated where Heaton’s Station once was. This was one of three forts that managed to withstand Indian attacks and preserve the city of Nashville.

Hartman Park is a newer park in the neighborhood that has a baseball diamond, basketball courts, and tennis courts. And Bordeaux Park sits a short distance to the west. It is a popular spot with young kids, and has a playground, hiking trail, and basketball courts. The Parkwood Park and Recreation Center lies a short distance outside of the community to the northeast. This community hot spot offers residents a gymnasium, fitness center, an indoor and outdoor walking path, and a variety of meeting rooms used for community events.

Private pilots and travelers would be interested to know that the John C. Tune Airport lies to the southwest of the neighborhood. This general aviation airport hosts regional corporate and private aircraft.
