Franklin Heights is a neighborhood in the metropolitan area of Nashville that is made up of affordable family homes and apartments. The residences are located on lots that are shaded by Tennessee trees, such as bald cypresses, pin oaks, pines, and red maples, each of which attract a variety of birds to the area. Because of the temperate climate, birds, such as sparrows, cardinals, and wrens can be seen throughout the seasons.
The weather also makes it possible for locals to enjoy a number of outdoor activities throughout the year, including boating, fishing, golf, hiking, and cycling. Residents visit area parks, such as Peay Park (located south of the neighborhood), Moss Wright Park (situated to the southeast), Old Hickory Lake (southeast of the community) and Hendersonville Park, which is located within the natural site.
The neighborhood is bordered by South Main Street and Interstate 65 on the west, Lickton Pike on the south, and Dickerson Pike on the northwest. It is also close to Nashville’s popular RiverGate Mall, which is home to major retailers, such as JCPenney, Macy’s, and Dillard’s, as well as over 150 smaller shops and eateries. Some featured stores include Foot Locker, Classic Bags, Rack Room Shoes, Things Remembered, and the Yankee Candle Company.
While the neighborhood can be considered walkable, most residents prefer to drive to nearby natural sites and parks.
