Dodson Heights is a picturesque, primarily residential community in Hermitage, Tennessee. Hermitage is in Davidson County and considered part of the Nashville metropolitan area. Juarez Drive serves as its northern border, and Panama Drive serves as its southern border. It is bordered to the east by Old Hickory Boulevard, and to the west by Lebanon Pike.
The J. Percy Priest Reservoir is to the southeast, while the Nashville International Airport is to the southwest. The Hermitage Hills Shopping Center is within walking distance, and Opry Mills, a huge shopping mecca for the greater area, is four miles to the west. Oakwood Commons Shopping Center, Hermitage Hills Shopping Center, and the Mall at Green Hills also serve the shopping needs of residents.
Dodson Heights is a family-friendly neighborhood with many highly-regarded private and public schools. Children can attend Dodson Elementary School, Tulip Grove Elementary School, Hermitage Elementary School, or Donelson Christian School. Junior high school students can attend Dupont-Tyler Middle School, Mount Juliet Christian Academy, Donelson Middle School, or Holy Rosary School. Older students can attend McGavock Comprehensive High School, Glencliff High School, Father Ryan High School, or Stratford Comprehensive High School. The Tennessee School for the Blind is also nearby.
Cultural and educational attractions abound in the area. The Gem & Mineral Museum of Tennessee is within walking distance to the north. The Grand Ole Opry Museum is less than five minutes from the community. Hermitage, which was once the home of former United States President Andrew Jackson, is a mile to the north.
