New two-story, brick homes on somewhat steep terrain make up the Autumnwood neighborhood. This is one of the newest areas of Antioch, a fast-growing suburb of Nashville. Yards are relatively small and homes sit quite close to the sidewalk and street, inviting neighbors to visit while on a morning walk. The neighborhood is bound by Hickory Highlands Drive and Rural Hill Road in zip code 37013.
It is a convenient neighborhood, with Southeast Library within its boundaries. Within a mile drive is Hickory Hollow Mall, which offers national value retailers, a movie complex and several casual restaurants. Wal-Mart Supercenter is nearby as well, off Murfreesboro Pike.
One of the most attractive features of Autumnwood is its proximity to J. Percy Priest Reservoir, less than ten minutes east. One of the largest lakes in the region, Priest Lake has a dozen or more public use areas, a commercial water park, and a fine marina capable of servicing large boats. The neighborhood is also within ten minutes of the Nashville International Airport.
Other attractive areas are nearby as well. 830-acre Cedars of Lebanon State Park, borders a state forest – the largest red cedar forest in the U.S. Along with the expected amenities, this state park has stables and horseback riding. Stone Rivers National Battlefield, just south, commemorates one of the tragic battles of the Civil War. Reenactments make vivid this brutal three-day struggle.
Autumnwood is served by several public golf courses and country clubs. Harpeth Hills, west at Percy Warner Park, is a challenging and popular course. Just south is the Nashville Golf and Athletic Club, a beautiful area with a bit of history tucked inside. The clubhouse preserves part of the original Crockett Homestead.
