Greenville's Premier Gated Community!

The historic neighborhood of Nicholtown lies right in the heart of Greenville, South Carolina. Its roots date back to the time when its sprawling land was a part of the Green family plantation. The Greens played a prominent role in the development of South Carolina, and were among its original inhabitants. In the mid-1800s, Elisha Green willed a part of the plantation to his daughter, Dorcas Green. The land that comprises present-day Nicholtown was thereafter subdivided, seized, and sold to investors and developers.

The neighborhood is just minutes from the airport. It sits about a mile and a half from downtown’s Central Business District, south of Laurens Road, and west of Pleasantburg Drive. Those strolling through the southern rim of the neighborhood are afforded panoramic views of Reedy River, which laces through the neighborhood with its gentle, budding creeks.

This historical community is led by the Nicholtown Neighborhood Association, which strives to meet the needs of residents, who are often spotted at Cleveland Park, adjacent to the neighborhood to the north. This popular 126-acre park edges Reedy River. It features tennis and volleyball courts, softball fields, a playground, shaded picnic areas, and a walking trail. On rainy days, joggers head to the local YMCA.

Nicholtown is served by the School District of Greenville County’s Beck Academy, the Phillis Wheatley Recreation Center and Health Center, the Nicholtown Community Center, and an array of places of worship.

The Greenville Tech campus is within walking distance to the south, and the University Center Campus lies to the east. Greenville Tech offers associate’s degrees in a wide range of disciplines.

With so many suburban comforts to offer within the small city of Greenville, Nicholtown remains a favorite among newcomers and locals alike.
