The Downtown Columbia neighborhood is located in the heart of the city of Columbia. Housing in Downtown Columbia consists primarily of condos, town homes, and apartments.

The northwest corner of this neighborhood is by Randolph Cemetery, where Elmwood Avenue meets the Three Rivers Greenway. The three rivers of Columbia converge to form the western boundaries of Downtown Columbia. These rivers, the Broad River, the Saluda River, and the Congaree, offer bountiful opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts in the area.

The Three Rivers Greenway is a 12-mile trail system that travels along these rivers and is easily accessible from Downtown Columbia. Bicentennial Park and Granby Park are situated along the riverway and fall within the borders of this neighborhood. Canoeing is popular in the area, and Columbia has been dubbed as a top “canoe town.”

Pacific Park, Finlay Park, and Gregg Park sit in the inner areas of Downtown Columbia. They are green spaces in which residents can relax and are close to any part of the center of the city. Just a few blocks west of Gregg Park, also on Blossom Street, is the University of South Carolina. This public university has grown from a single building in 1805 to 11 buildings and is still growing today.

The Colonial Life Arena on Lincoln Street is one of two places that accommodate large events. Behind it, the Columbia Amtrak makes its stop.

Within walking distance of these attractions, on the corner of Lincoln Street and Senate Street, is the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. This center has hosted the World Beer Festival since Columbia was chosen as its home city. A growing beer culture and a good outlook for future growth made this city top pick for this event.
