I hope you remember me. I’m hoping that you can help me find a new place to live. I’d like to relocate to a place with a low cost of living, and a small-town feel. I’d like to be able to have a good job, but still enjoy the things I love: shopping, tennis and wine tastings. My husband loves tractors and golf. Can you help?
Your old friend, Shelley
Ho ho ho, of course I remember you, and what a coincidence your letter was! I just paid a visit to the ideal place for you: Archdale, North Carolina. I was checking on the supply of Norway Spruces at Cardinal Crest Christmas Tree Farm, right there in Archdale.
You asked for a low cost of living; Archdale is a gift you’ll treasure. The overall cost of living is a whopping 11 percent less than the national average – ho ho ho!
Shopping, you say? Archdale is only four miles from High Point, North Carolina, home of the largest furniture shopping district in the world! It’s a shopper’s paradise, Shelley, and you can shop till’ you drop in over 50 stores. You’ll have a little extra cash in your pocket to spend, because the median income for a family in Archdale is over $50,000, above the national average. You’ll get to work faster, too: commute times in Archdale are 11 percent shorter than the national average.
You asked for wine tastings: my dear, just down the road is Archdale’s own vineyard, Zimmerman Vineyards on Tabernacle Church Road, with 140 acres at the foot of Mount Shepherd. You can tour the vineyard, and enjoy wine tastings every weekend. Your tennis courts are at Creekside Park, near downtown Archdale. The park spans almost 100 acres and offers ball fields, picnic shelters, shuffleboard courts, horse shoe pits, playgrounds, 18-hole championship disc golf course and a mile of walking trails.
Let’s not forget your husband; a few miles from Archdale, he’ll love the John Deere Vintage Tractor Museum with its rare tractors and collectibles. He can play golf at Holly Ridge Golf Links, where he’ll find a challenging, affordable game at this wonderful 18-hole golf course.
Well dear, I’d best be on my way. I’ll be looking forward to those cookies in your new home in Archdale!
