Situated 10 miles north of downtown Philadelphia in Montgomery County, Glenside, Pennsylvania is home to Arcadia University, the Keswick Theatre, and one of the best Independence Day celebrations around.
Arcadia University is a private liberal arts school built around Grey Towers Castle, a national historic site built in 1893. Formerly known as Beaver College, Arcadia is well-known for its vast study-abroad opportunities.
The architect for Grey Towers Castle, Horace Trumbauer, also designed the Keswick Theatre, which opened in 1928. The Keswick Theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Originally built as a vaudeville/movie house, the theatre today features a plethora of live entertainment. Trumbauer also designed the Philadelphia Museum of Art and much of the Duke University campus.
Glenside’s Independence Day Celebration, one of the largest in the area, begins with a children’s program and ends with a huge fireworks show.
Tradition and history blended with growing businesses and modern convenience make Glenside an ideal Philadelphia suburb for apartment renting.
